April 20 Where Has The Time Gone? So first...I have to say I am sorry to my Aunt Karen for not keeping this updated!! Sorry Aunt Karen :) Wow...let me think - we have been pretty busy since Christmas. I will go ahead and post a few pics of January - April. And then our most recent fun is the trip we just took to DISNEYLAND with Jeb's parents and Jeb's brother Joe and his wife Aspen. We did three very busy days of all things Disney and we have a BLAST. Katy is now 3ft tall so she was able to ride lots of rides and do the big girl things! Her favorite ride was Dumbo but she also road some roller coasters that she talks about. Okay so...check out all the pics...they pretty much show what we have been up to lately! Love and Hugs to you all!! December 25 MERRY CHRISTMAS TO OUR FAMILYHello Family J Merry Christmas! We wanted to post a few pictures of Katy’s Christmas for you all to see. We hope you all are having (or had) a very MERRY CHRISTMAS. Katy’s Christmas was “cooking” themed for the most part…she received a very large (yikes…) play kitchen from Santa and so she also received many cooking essentials. FUN! Katy really hopped on board with the whole Christmas thing this year and LOVED opening packages…in fact, she opened most of our packages too. SHE LOVED her kitchen and is actually still paying in it 5 hours later…which is HUGE for a 2yr old. To her benefit...she also knows that today is Jesus’ birthday and the baby Jesus was born. And Mary was his mommy and Joseph was his daddy. So…at least Santa hasn’t completely taken over – yet J We will post more stuff later…but for all our loved ones that we are away from today, we wanted to give you a peak into Katy’s 3rd (can you believe it!) Christmas. We are also really happy have Mindy’s parents and her little brother and his wife here at our house for Christmas this year…so a big THANK YOU to them for sharing their Christmas with us! Love to you all J Jeb, Mindy, and Katy November 03 Birthday GirlHappy Birthday Katy! Our little girl has turned two! It is hard to believe that our sweet baby has been apart of our lives for two years now. The last month has been a busy one…and Katy has been pretty excited about her birthday. She would tell everyone that is was going to be her birthday and she was going to have cake and balloons. Her birthday party was great. We had a birthday party for Katy on her birthday, Saturday, Nov. 1st. She had a small party of friends and they played and ate cake and ice cream. And then in true little kid fashion, the gift opening was a group effort. We had the party at the church…and I know that seems weird, but our church has a great little play area that is gated! No lost kiddos. And us parents didn’t have to worry as much and got to actually visit a little. It was a great day. Katy’s good buddy Nora (also a Nov. 1 birthday…the girls were born hours apart at the same hospital) had her birthday party on Sunday. So the girls got to attend each others parties. It was so sweet to see them wish each happy birthday. Her birthday will continue through out the month. Next weekend we will be down in Las Cruces for a meeting and will celebrate with her MiMi and Papa and Pappa and Grammie. And the week after that, her Nana and Papa are coming to visit and we will have another birthday with them. What a rough life :) Katy has really started changing this past month. She has moved from her crib to a toddler (big girl) bed. She made the switch with ease and loves it. She is close to being potty trained. We are looking forward to life without diapers. She has now gotten all of her baby teeth. (Yipee!!) Katy speaks in pretty complete sentences too. That is cute. She is growing up so fast, we can hardly believe it. This past Sunday during the 11am worship service, Katy fell and split her chin open in the nursery. Our nursery director is a RN (thank goodness) and got Katy all taken care of and then came and found us. So by the time we got to her, she was all smiles. (She is a tough cookie.) At the advice of our nurse/nursery director (and after Jeb finished teaching the confirmation class) we headed off to Urgent Care. We were afraid that she would need stitches…BUT…thanks to Lindsey (our great nursery director) and her great care…the butterfly had helped seal the wound together and the doctor opted for no stitches! Woo Hoo! So after a while in Urgent Care, we headed off to Nora’s birthday party. I am happy (and slightly shocked) to say that Katy made it all the way to 2 years old before her first Urgent Care trip. Oh, Halloween…I forgot. Katy dressed up as a New Mexico State University Cheerleader for Halloween this year. She was adorable and would tell everyone “Go Aggies!!” She made us proud. We had a Trunk Or Treat (Fall Festival sort of event) at the church the Sunday before Halloween. So Katy got to get all dressed and everyone got to tell her how adorable she is...at some point...I am pretty sure that will go to her head. So on Halloween night we had some friends, the Edwards, over to eat dinner and play games and hang out. They have a little boy, Sam, who is four months younger than Katy. And Katy ADORES Sam!! So everyone had a great time. We even got them to play a little RockBand with us. We hope you are all good. Love and Hugs to you all!! Jeb, Mindy, & Katy October 13 Is October really half way over!?The fall has already been really busy. We were able to get a way for five days in early September to a condo outside Durango, Colorado. It was GREAT!! Some of our friends own a condo at the Durango Mountain Resort at Purgatory. Their condo opens right out to the ski slopes. So in September of course pretty much the whole mountain was empty…making it a really nice and quiet place for us to be!! We got to do lots of fun things. Took some hikes, went fishing, visiting a great farm that sold all organic veggies, meats, cheeses, etc. YUM!. Our friends, the Andersons and their two daughters also joined us for a few days. We had a blast and it was a much needed get away. Of course after Durango, we had to go back to reality. Right back into the craziness that is our lives. Katy has recently started going to Gymboree once a week...and loves its. That has been really fun for her. For this 12-week session she is doing Fitness Fun. September flew by in a flash and before we knew it, October was here! October started out with a quick visit from Nana Tena and Papa Scott. They came up for a quick Saturday – Sunday visit. Katy loves having them here and was happy to see them. On Sunday, about the same time Nana and Papa left, Jeb had to leave to for a clergy retreat. He came back on Wednesday night and Katy and I were both happy to see him. Thursday, we packed up and headed down to Las Cruces until Saturday. Jeb and I both had meeting for college aged Emmaus walks that we are working in January. So Katy got to spend some quality time with her MiMi (Jan) and Papa James. She had a blast and was pretty wiped out by the time we got home Saturday night. It has Hot Air Balloon Festival time here in Albuquerque, but this year the weather has been cold and rainy. Not good for the balloons. So we didn’t get to (or have time to) take in any of the Festival activities. Boo! As we look ahead to the coming weeks…it looks like there is no slowing down. But that is okay-it is normal for us. In fact, we leave again on Friday – Sunday with the church youth for a youth choir retreat to a camp up north of Albuquerque. Should be fun, cold, but fun. Katy is growing, as usual, like crazy. She talks in these cute full sentences now and counts and sings non stop. She can even count in Spanish…which is funny to hear coming from the back seat. She is getting very tall and is turning into quite a little lady. We are potty training right now and she has recently left her crib for a big girl bed!! It is hard to believe that on November 1st my baby will be two. Hugs and Love to you all!! Jeb, Mindy, and Katy
September 08 Over Already? It is hard to believe that it is already September and the summer is already over! Our summer just flew by this year...as it usually does. However, I LOVE waking up and feeling fall in the air. You know, when you walk outside and you can just tell fall is right around the corner? I love that! Here in Albuquerque you can tell it is getting close to fall when the hot air balloons are up first thing in the mornings.
August was a busy month, although I can't really think of any major events...just lots of little stuff. Everything at the church that is on hold during the summer starts back up and that always makes the week a little more full! We are all doing great. Katy is growing (I know I always say this) leap and bounds. She is really smart (too smart I fear!) and really funny. She is tough as nails. She will fall down, and say "I'm okay...I'm okay" -- usually she is. Recently she took a pretty nasty spill while she was playing...she didnt want to stop playing, so she gritted her teeth and sort of limped off and said...I'm okay...in this really pained voice. But on she went, back to playing. She knows the names of everyone she has ever come in contact with and is always talking about her friends at school (daycare). She has also recently begun to count in Spanish now. That's funny. At her daycare they do teach some Spanish...and so she can count from 1-10 in Spanish...and sometimes it right :) Speaking of daycare, as if my baby wasn't growing fast enough, two weeks ago, they moved her to the 2 year old class. She is not two!! But they insisted she was ready to go. And she loves it. Last week, we enrolled her in a twelve week session of Gymboree classes. (Its a little kid gym sorta). Anyway, her daycare brings Gymboree in once a week to do classes with the different age groups. So she started a Fitness Fun class. I think she liked it...we don’t go, she goes with her other classmates that are enrolled in it...so its hard to tell what she did :) She tries to tell us...but we don’t always understand. Two weeks ago, Jeb had a meeting down south, so we got go for a brief visit to Mindy's grandparents house in High Rolls, NM and then onto Jeb's parents house in Las Cruces where we also visited with his grandparents. Katy had a great time and so did we. Katy got to ride a little train in Alamogordo and go swimming with her daddy in Las Cruces, so she was a happy camper! This week we are headed to Durango to spend a few days relaxing as a family. We are so excited!
We hope you are all doing great -- Love & Hugs, Jeb, Mindy, & Katy |
